Much Ado About Nothing

     Much Ado About Nothing is, in my opinion, some of Shakespeare's best work. Count Claudio ends up falling in love with Hero, his host's daughter. Hero's cousins Beatrice and Benedict (the forever bachelor) are each tricked into assuming the other is in love with them. Claudio is deceived by a vicious plot and criticizes Hero as unchaste before they marry. She faints and is considered dead, but recuperates to be established innocent by a sudden discovery. Benedict wins Beatrice’s love by protecting her cousin’s honor, and to his amazement, Claudio is reunited with Hero, who he believed dead.       The chosen elements of comedy in this play were sarcasm and irony. They did work quite effectively, which can be proven in many cases. In Act Four Scene One, one of these cases says, 'And what have I to give you back, whose worth - May counterpoise this rich and precious gift?'. A House Divided (1913)

    A House Divided, directed by Alice Guy, an old silent film produced in 1913, will keep you entertained. The acting, for that time at least, was phenomenal. The technologies from over a hundred years ago that made this film achievable are typewriters, cameras, sets, and more. Even though this is a silent movie, you can tell what is occurring with facial expressions and lots of props! It is about a couple that decides to live separately after having some marriage difficulties, instead of going straight to divorce. They take their space, but it becomes a more serious issue at one point. They end up getting a lawyer involved, which startled me because you would think that back then, you had to solve hardships by yourself with fewer resources. It was interesting to see the way that the lawyer was portrayed though.     Unfortunately, this film does not stand up today as entertainment because it's black and white, it's silent, and the quality is lower than what is ...
